This has been my go-to smoothie lately! I’ve think I’ve had it a few times a week recently. I love a green smoothie when I’m in a rush, or when I’m a little low energy. It’s pretty flexible and awesome.
I have to say, though, that when it comes to green smoothies, I love the ones that are secretly green. This means while it packs a decent serving of leafy greens, it tastes sweet rather than savory. Often that requires a banana as they’re super sweet, but this one is awesome as apple (and a little stevia) help make it fruity.
When I say “green apple” I do intend to mean green like the colour (for the purpose of trying to trick kids into veggies, and green like the spinach. Double meaning green times.
- 1 apple, cubed (my fave is Ginger Gold)
- 1 packed up baby spinach
- ½ cup almond milk
- 1t cinnamon
- 1t ginger
- pinch nutmeg
- stevia to taste (I used half a dropper of liquid)
- OPTIONAL: (if adding these, add ¼c more liquid)
- 1 T chia seeds
- ¼ cup oats
- Blend everything together and enjoy!
