These are the best doughnuts you’ve never had.

Now, back to serious doughnut business.

These are spicy.  They are an amazing side dish to any meal…or you can get crazy and make a sandwich using them.  The best? A breakfast sandwich.  You could also make them…then cut them up, toast them, and use them as croutons in a butternut squash soup.  The possibilities are endless.

Spicy Savory Plaintain Doughnuts

If you don't have doughnut pans, you can definitely make these into muffins or biscuits! Just be sure to watch the baking time, as it may vary.
  • 3 ripe plantains
  • 1 t sea salt
  • 1 cup oats
  • 2t sambal oleik
  • 2t turmeric
  • ¼ cup coconut oil (plus a little more
  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Puree everything in the food processor
  3. Grease donut pan, and spoon batter in. The batter is thick, so feel free to smooth it out with a spatula.
  4. Bake 20 minutes.

Did you know plantain bananas contain more beta carotene than regular bananas?  Consider plantains our new starchy side.  Yum!
